I often sat out on the front porch with my Grandpa Walls and "talked." He always talked to me like I was an adult. Grandpa had seen lots of changes and also seen a lot of farm boys, like me, grow up. Photo by

"More choices than you can shake a stick at!", reflects our broad assortment of bath cabinetry. The old man used in our 1990's slogan, "More choices than you can shake a stick at!", is a photograph of my Grandpa Walls. I think he’s shaking his stick at LeRoy! I’m the youngest, by seven years, of his 25 grandchildren. The oldest grandchild was 32 years old when I was born! It always made me stand taller when Grandpa called me "Little Man." Our house was about 1/4 mile from his house and our farms joined so I was very much "at home" with Grandpa and Grandma Walls. I was 12 when he died, at age 91,but I have vivid memories of him. Grandma Walls died when I was six so I often stayed with my Grandpa to keep him company. Grandpa and Grandma had been married 67 years and he was very lonely after her death. I got to sleep in the guest room’s feather bed. He always got up early and started his wood kitchen cook stove and cooked me a big breakfast, including home-made biscuits, eggs and gravy. He had a new fangled electric range but didn’t like it. Grandpa smoked a pipe and he would often let me light it for him. That was a big thrill for us younger relatives! I remember his right index finger was burned slick from years of continual re-lighting of his pipe. The heat from the matches literally burned the fingerprints off! Grandpa and Grandma Walls gave all of us a rich heritage of Christian ethics, hard work, and honest living of which I’m very proud. I’m also proud of the many choices we can offer you in our Personalzied Bath Cabinetry. And in addition to variety, remember, we also offer our customers special order cabinetry in the same quick ship cycle as stock! 12/31/1999 |
