The serene beauty of Old Dawt Mill was interrupted as we pulled our interesting weekend RV into the campgrounds. Our one-ton 14-ft. cargo van with a Woodpro billboard on each side pulled the ugliest delivery trailer we ever owned.

The Walls and Ross families piled out and the kids headed for the riverfront. We were reluctantly checked in after they saw our unconventional camping equipment. They were too kind to do otherwise.

Marcia, Paula and I had our hands full looking after eight energetic kids. We nevertheless enjoyed the restful beauty of Old Dawt Mill. Dawt is a beautiful old mill on the North Fork of the White River, which forms Norfork Lake a few miles downstream.

The kids and I loved tubing the stretch of white water from the millrace dam down to the old bridge. Over the years, we, the Rosses and many other area families, have enjoyed floating various stretches of this beautiful river from Twin Bridges to Dawt Mill.

With the Woodpro camping equipment and the Ross’ tent we had a great weekend. Dawt Mill now has an impressive lodge that’s located in the old campground area. Perhaps partly due to us they’ve wisely moved most of the camping to the back of the main grounds.
