Avoidable Cultured Marble Top Problems
Scratched and Chipped Surfaces
Almost all chipping and scratching of tops occurs when construction happens around an unprotected marble top. Marble tops are inviting areas to lay tools and other supplies during the final installation. However, this also invites scratches and chipping to the surface. We recommend that you install the marble top as the last phase of finishing the bathroom. Or if this is not possible, then cut a piece of cardboard that fits over the flat part of the top and tape this into position to assist in protecting the top.
Drain Area Hairline Cracks
This is generally caused by excessively high hot water temperatures. In almost all cracked-bowl situations, we find the home's hot water temperature is set to the maximum. We recommend that the hot water temperature be set at a safe, comfortable level. Note: Dishwasher and laundry soap is often designed to work best between 120-125 degrees F. |
