Cabool finally has a stop light! It’s at the intersection of Highway 181 with U.S. Business 60. This intersection is a couple of blocks south of Cabool High School. In the afternoons just after school is dismissed traffic can get rather stacked up (by Cabool standards) with traffic from the two roads plus grocery shoppers going into the Town and Country supermarket in the southeast corner. The city is saving money on the stop light system by leaving off the computerized synchronizing system. This seems OK since this is Cabool’s first stop light. The next closest stoplight is 10 miles away in Mountain Grove. They recently got two over there to handle traffic near the new Wal-Mart supercenter. Come to think of it, I’m not sure Cabool got our stop light because of the traffic that’s backed up or to keep up with Mountain Grove! 12/31/1999 |
